We thought you’d like to see what the top TechSoup infrastructure product donations have been this year. Check out what our techies and accidental techies like!
The New Linksys Discount Program
We are proud to welcome Linksys, a new donor partner to TechSoup. Linksys is one of the major networking hardware manufacturers worldwide. The Linksys Discount Program offers an array of networking devices for offices of all sizes.
In this new program, eligible charities and libraries pay a $10 admin fee to receive five coupon codes that provide 25 percent discounts for new equipment on the Linksys U.S. website. Products include routers, range extenders, switches, modems, and other network accessories. The products offered on the Linksys website will change periodically, so be sure to order them while they are available.
Security
Protection against malware and data theft is more important than ever for nonprofits. TechSoup’s most popular donations the past two years have been security products from Symantec and Veritas.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition
Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition is an essential tool for an organization’s security protection platform. This product uses firewalls to block phishing, adware, and intrusion to protect your donor, client, and project information across your network.

Symantec Mail Security 7.5 for Microsoft Exchange
Paired with Microsoft Exchange, Symantec Mail Security protects organizations from spam and viruses. It also allows administrators to manage server group policy security settings and create reports using data from multiple servers within a group.
Veritas Backup Exec
Regular backups protect organizations against a data-loss disaster. Whatever kind of database an organization uses, Veritas Backup Exec is an application that automates regular backups. When needed, it also restores critical documents and data to their original location or moves them to another location.
Microsoft Server Products
Microsoft server tools are the backbone of IT systems and office networks worldwide. Here are the ones most popular with our nonprofit techie members.
Windows Server Standard
Windows Server is a fundamental building block for setting up an organization’s technology infrastructure. It enables a computer to handle network roles such as print server, domain controller, web server, and file server. The Standard edition is designed for small- to medium-sized organizations with physical or lightly virtualized server environments.
Windows Server Datacenter
The Datacenter edition of Windows Server works the same way as the Standard edition but is designed for organizations with large workloads and heavily virtualized server environments.
SQL Server
Data collection and management has become increasingly important as nonprofit organizations use more data for impact analysis and evaluation. In addition to its primary function of storing and retrieving data, SQL Server helps manipulate data and pull out key data components to generate reports. That functionality leads to better evaluation and decision making.
Windows Remote Desktop Services
Organizations frequently working with staff or external teams across different locations find Windows Remote Desktop useful. It allows individuals to connect to a remote PC or virtual apps and desktops. Its sharing applications improve collaboration on projects or issues that cannot be easily explained via online messaging or a phone call.

Two More Top Product Donations for Nonprofit Techies
Visio Professional
Visio Professional 2016 makes it easy for individuals and teams to turn complex information into polished and appealing visuals. Individuals can enhance diagrams with a variety of shapes, templates, and styles, and link diagrams to data.
This version also supports team collaboration, allowing multiple people to work on a single diagram simultaneously. The techies we know like to use Visio for flowcharts and network diagrams.
TechSoup Refurbished Computers
TechSoup’s Refurbished Computer Initiative (RCI) program is popular with organizations that are planning to add staff or volunteers. The RCI program provides warrantied, factory-refurbished, commercial-grade computer systems to charities and libraries across the country. This equipment is often half the cost of equivalent new computers, and because it is commercial grade, it is built to last. All RCI computers come with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office pre-installed.
