The Development Gateway puts the Internet to work for developing countries. We provide innovative Internet solutions for effective aid and e-government – increasing access to critical information, building local capacity and bringing partners together for positive change. - Armenia

Civil Society International (CSI) assists independent organizations working for democracy and civil society in countries closed, or inhospitable, to these principles. We bring together in one place information about projects worldwide committed to the keystones of civil society: limited government, popular elections, and the rule of law; free association and expression; regulated, but open and market-oriented economies; aid to the poor, orphaned, elderly, sick, or disabled; and finally, civic cultures that value pluralism and individual liberty but also respect human needs for community and shared visions of the common good. Armenia

The directory of development organizations found at: http://www.devdir.org/index.html has been prepared to facilitate international cooperation and knowledge sharing in development work, both among civil society organizations, research institutions, governments and the private sector.

Access to Information Monitoring Tool: Report from a Five-Country Pilot Study. This pilot survey monitoring freedom of information was conducted in Armenia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Peru and South Africa, and involved the submission of 100 information requests to 18 different public institutions. On average only 35 percent of requests for information were fulfilled and 36 percent of requests submitted resulted in tacit or "mute" refusals. Interviews with government officials revealed a number of common obstacles in enforcing FOI laws, including a lack of political will at senior levels to encourage transparency, inadequate information management, insufficient training of public officials, and an excess of bureaucratic obstacles to timely information release.
